My skin changed and was now more smooth and flexible and my "age

Born in 1942, I was diagnosed with diabetis type 2 in 1990. My diabetes career went off like so many others: initially a diet, later tablets and insulin.

I went dependent on insulin in 1996. An unwanted side effect of insulin is that it may cause a gain in weight. This also happened to me. Nine years later my scales showed 20 more kilos . ...  with the corresponding consequences: In 2005 I was hospitalized three times because of heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmia, arterial fibrillation and flutter).

In February 2006 I first came to parallel acupuncture with Hugo Nielsen. From then on I had two treatments a week. After a year the dose of my heart medicine could be reduced by a half. My skin changed. It became smoother, my 'age spots' gradually dissolving themselves into nothingness.

After the second year of treatment with Hugo Nielsen my cardiolog asked in a jokey fashion whether I merely came to enquire about 'his state of health'. Apart from a beta-blocker, my medicine was continually reduced. Since the beginning of 2008 I have had only one treatment a week at the Hugo Nielsen Institute.

It was already by beginning of 2002 that my diabetolog stated with me a diabetes type 1, i.e. that my pancreas was no longer able to produce insulin of its own and that I would have to inject insulin for the rest of my life.

But during treatment with Hugo Nielsen I could also state an impact on my diabetes. First my blood sugar marks were stabilized with the exception of high morning marks (dawn- phenomenon). From the end of 2007 onwards, however, marks degenerated dramatically. I realized incredible and above all unexplainable fluctuations. On the order of my diabetolog I increased the amount of insulin but refused the use of an insulin pump which he had recommended.

By the end of June 2008 I presented myself at the St. Joseph-Stift in Bremen to obtain treatment as an out-patient and possibly clarify the cause of my problems with diabetes.

The diagnosis of their diabetolog - after taking into consideration all my marks - said: diabetic type 2 (not type 1!!). The dose of insulin being too high,  I was presumably gliding from one state of low blood sugar into the next without noticing!

My pancreas appears to still produce insulin.

His recommendation: to reduce the dosage of insulin but to add a tablet of Metformin 500 in the mornings and evenings.
Within four months I was able to reduce insulin units of about 40 a day to the half. I am also glad about the side effect of a weight reduction of 6 kilos.

Now, after five months, I only need 10 units a day plus Janumet twice a day. My blood sugar marks keep on stabilizing themselves.

When I last saw the doctor he said: „You seem to be one of the few persons who succeed in getting rid of insulin.“ If I continue losing weight, there is a chance of my being able to renounce insulin for good. Treatment with tablets, however, may have to be continued.
I hope to be able to add the news of success to this in a few months.

Over ten years ago I was diagnosed with an elevated intraocular pressure in my eyes and found I had a beta-blocker prescribed. I was told that I had to take these drops until my dying day.

For about three years, the six-monthly measurements resulted in always the same needs in the normal range values (Nielsen-treatment in the Institute since February 2006).
In January this year, my eyes doctor said that one should think about whether it could possibly be disposed of beta-blockers. Following an investigation in early August 2009, the drug was actually taking away.
Six weeks later, the examination showed that the intraocular pressure was still within the normal range. The next examination will take place in November. I hope that I get it confirmed the good results.

Bei mir (Jahrgang 1942) wurde 1990 ein Typ 2 Diabetes festgestellt. Meine Diabeteskarriere verlief wie bei vielen anderen Diabetikern, zunächst Diät, dann Tabletten und später Insulin.

Insulinpflichtig wurde ich 1996. Eine unerwünschte Nebenwirkung des Insulins kann eine Gewichtszunahme sein. So auch bei mir. Zwanzig Kilogramm brachte ich nach neun Jahren mehr auf die Waage, … mit entsprechenden Konsequenzen. 2005 kam ich insgesamt dreimal in die Klinik mit Herzrhythmusstörungen (Vorhofflimmern und –flattern).

Im Februar 2006 ging ich zum ersten Mal zur Parallelakupunktur bei Hugo Nielsen. Seitdem erfolgte zweimal wöchentlich die Behandlung. Nach einem Jahr konnte die Dosis meiner Herzmedikamente auf die Hälfte verringert werden. Meine Haut veränderte sich, sie wurde glatter und meine „Altersflecken“ haben sich irgendwann in Nichts aufgelöst.

Nach dem zweiten Jahr der Behandlung bei Hugo Nielsen scherzte mein Kardiologe, ich käme wohl nur, um mich nach „seinem Gesundheitszustand“ zu erkundigen. Die Medikamente wurden bis auf einen Betablocker weiter reduziert. 

Die Behandlung im Nielsen-Institut erfolgt seit Anfang 2008 nur noch einmal die Woche.
Bereits Anfang 2002 diagnostizierte mein Diabetologe, dass ich Typ 1 Diabetiker sei, meine Bauchspeicheldrüse also kein eigenes Insulin mehr produzieren könne und ich demzufolge mein Leben lang Insulin spritzen müsse.

Während der Behandlung durch Hugo Nielsen konnte ich auch Auswirkungen auf meinen Diabetes feststellen. Zunächst stabilisierten sich meine Blutzuckerwerte, nur der morgendliche Wert blieb sehr hoch (Dawn-Phänomen). Ab Ende 2007 entgleisten jedoch die Werte dramatisch. Ich stellte unglaubliche und vor allem unerklärbare Schwankungen fest. Auf Anordnung die Diabetologen erhöhte ich die Insulinmenge. Mir wurde zur Insulinpumpe geraten, die ich aber ablehnte. 

Ende Juni 2008 stellte ich mich zur ambulanten Behandlung und eventuellen Klärung der Ursachen meiner Probleme mit dem Diabetes im St. Joseph-Stift vor.

Die Feststellung des dortigen Diabetologen - nach Durchsicht meiner Messwerte- lautete: Typ 2 (nicht Typ 1!!) Diabetiker. Die Insulindosis sei zu hoch, ich rutsche vermutlich von einer Unterzuckerung in die nächste, ohne es zu merken!

Meine Bauchspeicheldrüse produzierte noch Insulin.

Seine folgerichtige Empfehlung war, die Insulinmenge zu verringern, dabei aber morgens und abends je eine Tablette Metformin 500 zu nehmen.

Innerhalb von vier Monaten konnte ich die Insulineinheiten von circa 40 pro Tag auf die Hälfte reduzieren. Eine erfreuliches „Nebenbei“ ist eine Gewichtsreduzierung um sechs Kilogramm.

Jetzt, nach fünf Monaten, benötige ich nur noch zehn Einheiten Insulin und zweimal täglich Janumet. Die Blutzuckerwerte stabilisieren sich.

Bei meinem Letzten Besuch stellte mein Arzt fest „Sie werden wohl eine der wenigen Personen sein, denen es gelingt vom Insulin wegzukommen.“ Bei weiterer Verringerung meines Körpergewichts habe ich die Aussicht ganz auf Insulin verzichten zu können. Die Behandlung mit Tabletten wird wohl fortgeführt werden müssen.

Ich hoffe, in einigen Monaten diesem Bericht eine Erfolgsmeldung hinzufügen zu dürfen.
